Marc Slade has been introduced as the seventh head coach in program history.
Slade comes to Charlotte from Roanoke College, where he served as Associate Head Coach under Clay Nunley. Slade helped the Maroons to a 48-18 record in the three seasons he was there, including three ODAC tournament semi-final appearances. He was involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, scouting, travel logistics, game planning, and conditioning. Prior to Roanoke, he spent one year at Emory & Henry College as the Lead Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. His responsibilities for the Wasps ranged from coordinating recruiting visits to developing scouting reports to organizing team study halls. He served as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Randolph College from August, 2017 to August, 2019, where he was responsible for assisting the head coach in all team related activities, including game planning, recruiting, community service, fundraising, and offseason conditioning. His first collegiate coaching experience came at Guilford College during the 2016-17 season, where he was on the staff of ODAC Coach of the Year Tom Palombo. Slade has an 98-78 record as an assistant coach, and three of those teams have earned national rankings.
Slade played basketball at Methodist University, where he was named team captain for the Monarchs during his senior season. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education/Exercise Science in 2011. He went on to earn his Master's degree in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy in 2014.
